Ok, so when I am thinking of textures, I am thinking of 4 separate areas that define the overall look and volume. They goes as following, model, texture, lighting and environment. The model is self explanatory as it is the basic shape of the object in question, the texture is the external pattern on it, the lighting is what cast shadow and highlights on it and the environment is what react to each of these elements. Together, it creates vision as we know it.

Call me crazy, but I like to stroll around in the town and looking at random textures and how light reacts to them. Here are some textures that I took a look at, some influenced more than others by lighting. However when you create textures, unless you have your own engine, you have to take how the lighting will look into consideration to get the best possible result.

Each of these textures has their own message. Now, there is a reason I cast an unnatural shadow into each picture, that is to see how it interacts with the shadows themselves.

The first one is a battle between the light and dark contrast, pattern aside this is a particular type of leather that seems to have an extreme reaction to light, which means that it has the same reaction to shadow. Look at how it gradients itself, yet even the most light point does not escape the shadows of it.

The second one is a more detailed constructive one in terms of how it is created, however it is from a natural material of course, which is interesting if you take into terms how the contrast always stays on level and how it bends around. Wood is strange indeed, but there are so many different types of wood.

The third one is my favorite, this leather here is shot from a rather neutral angle and it just has a wonderful white contrast there in the middle. No texture comes complete without any sense of damage on it, dirt is great, so is dust and such complexity. That much I have learned.

The last one is a less is more sorta texture, it is real of course which makes it a reference to take into consideration. The contrast is rather light, even at the shadowy area.

My guess is that textures themselves can define the life of someone. Since it has to do with contrast, damage, how it reacts to the light and the dark side. Now, I know that it is a somewhat melodramatic statement, but it is fun to think about stuff like that. To take a closer look at what makes the visuals clear. Textures on humans are no exception, as they have an incredible pattern to themselves, as it reacts to height - the model. As it reacts to the texture itself, how it blends with the lighting and how it looks thanks to the environment itself.

Well, just food for thoughts over here.

Artificial Intelligence is no match for natural stupidity. - Unknown

For starters, even though I have a really healthy relationship with sci-fi, there is some part of me that has always leant towards the 'lighter' side of life. In all honesty, I find too few occasions where the two elements mentioned in the titles are mixed. Now, please understand me when I say this I don't mean the lower age target audience which rejoice at the sighting of Wall-E, I am talking about the more mature type. A childish humor can entertain adult people, at least us who like the eastern brand of entertainment. At times the elements of a show should not be too pure or too predictable, and as a person who often notices a pattern of things that especially includes high budget shows targeted at audiences aged 12+ which seems to have developed an unfortunate evil circle where it is the same thing, but not within the same context.

To introduce an element of the past, present or future and dragging it into another timeline itself can produce some pretty funny results. Take this, a chicken that is dragged into a WWI setting and a crusader into the future.

Alright, let's start with the chicken. I called him Rad and I was in a rush to invent him as he was made during the exam itself. Who is he and what does he aspire too? Firstly his childhood was not among the easy ones, seeing that they are scavengers they often pick fights with each other for no particular reason which was a factor he frequently had to experience. Now despite hating his farm and the general people he was around it did not take too long for him to join the defense after they where invaded by the turkey squadron. So without much love for his country he still fights fiercely onboard his old red baron style WWI plane.

Peasant, Squire, knight, Templar and Templar master. That are the 5 levels that the order of Illumination has. The character on screen happens to be a Templar, someone sworn to protect the order during the confrontation with the Order of Terra. The name of the mainstream order in the sol system during Earth's early intergalactic expansion days. They first revealed themselves in several acts of sabotage during a financial crisis which the order of Terra practically had enforced upon themselves, taking over asteroid belts and various regions on planets. With new technology and a unmatched will these knights fight against what they see as a spawn of their own ignorance as their roots dates back towards the original crusades. They are considered mainstream to be antagonistic, but the order of terra is not without flaws, both sides have a very closed propaganda agency and strict rules for information trading.

Seeing that this is a game idea, the first public appearance of a templar will be when the main character, an agent of the order of Terra investigates what seems to be a technical malfunction in an asteroid prison. He goes in finding nearly everyone dead, and a line of blood leads him towards a large observatory window where one of these knights gaze into the sol system, while being confronted by this knight who vows that the patterns of control will soon shift he draws his gun. At the moment he fires the shot is blocked by the large chainsaw blade which the templar does handle without any respect to its size or weight. The templar leaves and he is spared, but there seems to be no escape from the asteroid, until an old escape pod which was abandoned for its insecurity comes into view, but the only possible launch place would be a newly occupied Illumination camp, where many peasant and squire class members control most of the action.

Ok, that at least is the start of the game. These elite soldiers are exceptionally agile. They have technology unknown to the order of Terra and they are considered unstoppable at first on the open battlefield. The story has a two-fold level of engagement where neither order really are clean on their sides. A choice will be made later on which determines the fate of the main character.

I know, I am dreaming with this, but that's half the fun of creating these things. You can be sure I would have nativity, stupidity and pleasant foolishness in both of the stories mentioned above. These elements which we are familiar with, and at times live. When our attempts become an outright failure then a sense of joy, believe it or not, can be found within certain people. It depends on the relationship, but levels of crazy randomness can fit in anywhere, and if a person is smart enough, it can cover the entire genera, but it has to be fresh, new and constantly updated all the time. Quite a challenge eh?

Insanity -- a perfectly rational adjustment to an insane world. - R. D. Lang

Alright, so I feelt a bit bored and made this in one day, this includes pretty much all the paperwork, even the sort summary stuff I made before the treatment itself.

The airtrip
Style – Cartoonish – Semi fantasy

Starts – Character gets annoyed by passengers in the airfield itself, particularly by musicians and bratty characters.

Ends – Plane crashes and he gets stranded on a desert island, with the annoying tuba player landing near him.

Pitch – A struggle onboard an airplane between a pilot struggling to keep his sanity and a band of annoying flight attendants eventually results in disaster.

Characters and short details

'Hero' – Jeff the pilot – A nice person, but very easily annoyed. Inspiration – Basil Fawlty in Fawlty towers.

Support character – James the co-pilot – Regular guy who tries to help, but who is not the most competent person to rely on. He is rather lonely as well.

Support character – Linda the hot flight attendant. – Hot, but very self-reserved and duty detailed.

Main Anti-hero – Phillips the musician – Finds the worst moments to play his tuba. Shy and means no harm, but is stressed to practice for a concert he will be in later on.

Support anti-heroes
Jim and Jimmy the Perverts – Twins who seek any opportunity to make a revolting gesture, but who can't keep their eyes off the real ladies.

Lisa the fat woman – Her arms are extremely short, she has to use two seats to sit and she is married to Erik the Lawyer. Although at this time she does not really fancy him too much.

Erik the lawyer – Poor hearing, has a very detectable hearing aid on.

Tina the spoiler – Mother to Jonas, she looks very rich and makes her kid spoiled in all kinds of ways.

Jonas the spoiled kid – Spoiled kid who is determined to get what he wants.

Harry the hyperactive coffee addict – Super addicted to coffee, he will start craving coffee the more and more he goes without it.

Treatment

In the skies above, a small, yet prideful plane known as the sky princess roam the skies. Jeff, the experienced pilot was on his usual run between France and Florida. Whatever the circumstances may have been he could not have foreseen the events that would haunt him this day.

CAMERA – MS *Hip shot* on Jeff and James.

James said into the radio " Ladies and Gentlemen I welcome you onboard this flight between France and Florida.

CAMERA – Trucks along from right on a bit of an angle which reveals each character, then a Choker shot presenting each of the antagonistic characters. During these shots James continues speaking in the radio while each of the guests at their shot does something that reveals a bit of their personality.

"I welcome you onboard this flight and I am honored to announce that this is the one hundred flight of the Sky Princess. In such I have taken the liberty to sponsor a fine hot meal for each and every one of you which will be served along with a scratch ticket which allows the winner to come to the cockpit and get a basic view of how things are in the front seat as well as a free holiday to Disney World and a 10000 dollar gift card. This will be delivered to you shortly after certain instructions have been presented."

Linda proceeds near the front of the plane and starts giving instructions which regards flight safety and use of the west. Her Beauty catches Jim and Jimmy's attention to say the least as they make some perverted gestures among themselves, until the moment where she shows how to blow air into the west where they act as if they faint. She does notice them, but pretends as if nothing had occurred and continues on with the instructions. After finishing she passes by them and gives them a disgusted * In your dreams* sort of look. They take no offence, and continues mumbling to themselves.

A person with a very shaky hand does press the service button, which makes Linda come over. It is Harry, who with the menu requests the coffee. He is extremely disappointed in hearing that he has to wait after the meal, nearly to the point of a breakdown, but as Linda goes away there is little he can do. Jeff in the cockpit then proceeds to put the plane on auto pilot.

Camera – LS on Jeff and James who pushes a dolly in which contains a number of hot stew meals which then is served to each and every passenger.

As Jeff approaches Erik the Lawyer who questions him to point out some direction for him on a rather large map he has. Phillips the musician who is holding a grand orchestra note in front of him silently pulls up his tuba and tries to silently blow a single note; unknowingly to him it becomes rather loud and the tuba is pointed straight at Lisa. She proceeds to drop the hot stew in between her breasts. Her arms can't reach it and she screams in pain, Erik the lawyer does not hear it and is busy with Jeff the pilot who gets sort of stressed. James sees the situation and in desperation tries using his hand to pull out the hot stew. Jim and Jimmy makes their gestures known during this, however when Erik the lawyer sees James holding his hand at that location he gets furious and proceeds to back James into a corner threatening him with all sorts of lawsuits. James proceeds towards Phillips and tells him to please stop playing the tuba. Phillips who is stressed slowly nods in agreement. After this James hands out a scratching ticket to everyone.

During this the service button is once again pushed, it is Harry again that now is visibly shaking and pointing towards the coffee on the menu. Linda then rejects his request and gives him a gesture to wait a bit longer. He grabs a hold of her and nearly threatens her, but Linda pushes him rather forcefully back into his seat as she apparently knows how to take care of himself. After giving him yet another gesture to wait he sits still, but shakes noticeably. Jim and Jimmy look impressed at Linda's display.

Jeff who has ignored James problem with Erik the lawyer for some time proceeds to the back of the plane where Erik the Lawyer has cornered James and continually threatened him for some time. He breaks up the two of them and points to a location on the map to Erik. The lawyer then mumbles and decides the leave the situation be at the moment. He then goes back to his place next to Lisa who rolls her eyes at the sight of him, but proceeds to give a wink to James who blushes at the very instant.

As the situation seemed calmed down Jeff continues towards the cockpit, he enjoys a good five seconds of silence before he hears some noise in the background. The noise points towards the awful tuba play of Phillips the musician, this time in lower tones. He does sight and proceeds back to the plane where he finds Phillips and gives him an angry look. Phillips then stops playing and puts the tuba away. He then hears a joyful scream closer towards the front of the plane. It is Tina who holds a lottery ticket up and joyfully screams. Jeff, who has gotten very tired of sounds for the moment tries to calm her down and successfully does so, he then leads her and Jonas to the cockpit. Jonas instantly gets very interested in all the buttons around there as he reaches out towards them. Tina cannot hold her excitement in and acts in a rather immature fashion by letting off the occasional small scream every now and then.

Jeff is now very tired, but does play along. Jeff then proceeds to escort Tina back to her seat, but James stay behind in the cockpit and watch Jonas, who by the expression would much rather push buttons alone without him being there. Jonas turns around to see Erik the lawyer enter into the bathroom. James does however receive an angry glare before by him before that. For some reason he gets excited and fastens Jonas to the seat with his seatbelts. He then rushes back towards Lisa and tries to apologize, Lisa seems intrigued if anything. However something else was developing at the moment.

Camera – 3 Freeze frame shots, all CU at Harry from different angles.

Harry was at this time hyperventilating. He proceeded to rush towards the cabin section to loot the supply section. Linda sees this and rushes to stop Harry, who now appears much stronger than he was before. They get in a fight in the middle of the plane cabinet, Jim and Jimmy watches closely which disgusts Linda who is increasingly becoming frustrated. Jeff sees this and tries to intervene, but just as he is about to do so he hears the Tuba again, he is really mad and slowly approaches Phillips this time.

At the same moment, the baby Jonas had managed to crawl away from the seatbelts, his eyes was aimed at a huge red button. The plane then suddenly shakes as the engines turn off and it goes down towards a crash course. Linda manages to land in the seat in the middle of Jim and Jimmy's, the seat leans so powerfully backwards it catches a part of her clothing and rips her upper clothes off as she is laid flat down there.

Camera – CU at Jim and Jimmy face as they both lean in closer towards the center of the camera, both of their faces are quite shocked and happy.

Harry crashes into the service compartment, as he lays flat there his face is covered with caffeine; he seems mighty happy and smiles.

James fall onto Lisa, who sees him blush badly. They both look at each other and embrace each other with a kiss.

Jeff falls into the tuba and Phillips plays a note, this pretty much drives Jeff insane as he runs for the emergency exit and jumps out. He then parachutes into the center of a ring of isles.

He breathes deeply and relaxes for a good 7 seconds before he hears something in the background. It is not the sharks circulating the scattered isles around him, but it is the sound of a tuba. He looks upwards and sees Phillips parachuting down while playing the Tuba as he lands on an island nearby, but unreachable due to the sharks.

The other passengers also arrive shortly after. Respectively Jim, Jimmy and the not too dressed Linda share an isle, James and Lisa on another while Erik and Tina land on the last. Jeff being in the middle has to deal with the noise from each situation and it drives him nuts.

Camera –HA crane shot on Jeff as he screems, then it pans to an LA on the plane which still does fly in the air and then a CU on Jonas who seems to have a blast on successfully steering the plane.

The end.

When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth. - George Bernard Shaw

This little post will go through some of the more fundamental areas of how I think when I am creating stories.

I love creating an alternative reality, but that is mainly because I still consider myself a bit of a stranger to the one I am currently in. What creates the appeal for most stories is not the comfort, but the chaos something is in. At the start of nearly any story, one is not able to feel, or positively reflect on a character who enjoy comfort because the level of empathy is not quite there. However, a character who has gone through hardship over and over and for a moment is given a time of peace, or if he has worked hard in order to achieve it will enable the viewer to feel some degree of comfort.

If you can remember some of the older films which did not really have a lot of action, but a lot of dialogue, less conflict and more comfort. You could perhaps feel a sense of calm during the entire show. It however in my opinion would not be as rewarding as the sense of calm someone who has worked exceptionally hard, and gone through risks after risks in order to get a short term of peace, then it the emotion becomes somewhat shared. That is at least how I see it. I remember how calm everyone was at the end of the third movie of the Lord Of The Rings. The peace was deserved, the environment was calm and in a way beautiful. However, that is tied to the action that just appeared before that. The emotion got shared because it was deserved, not because it just was there.

It can also tie into humor, but in order for that to be so then the environment that has been around would be profited from either being very young, or at least having a comical undertone too it. After all, as long as there is chaos which does not affect one personally, then it is a good chance that it will be interpreted as funny. However that is because it links to our reality. We have all endured hardships just to meet disappointment, and in such an act the discomfort gets reversed just because of an age old emotion which we have. A feeling of superiority, but also mixed in with that who is considered the underling is in a lot of trouble. Seeing it from a nature-neutral third person perspective it is a bit sick, but seeing it from a human perspective makes it more than worth it.

Hardships are supposed to be rewarding, but that's not always the case, so what makes it so funny that others, preferably at the worst possible times have to endure them? Well, I guess only we humans can answer that because of our nature. Then again, maybe cats can too. If you have ever noticed that the smarter a cat is, the more evil it is. Basking in the suffering of another is a semi-hobby to those beings.
